The Northeast Maryland Waste Disposal Authority (NMWDA) is a regional service organization that serves eight Maryland counties in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. Our mission is to plan and develop sustainable waste management systems that meet the highest environmental standards while offering reliable and efficient waste disposal services.

Who We Are

Composed of dedicated professionals with extensive experience in waste management, the NMWDA fosters collaboration and innovation to address the unique needs of our diverse region. Our Board of Directors is comprised of representatives appointed by the Executive branches of our member jurisdictions, ensuring local accountability and responsiveness.

What We Do

We offer a comprehensive range of services to support our member jurisdictions in their waste management initiatives, including:

• Recycling & Resource Recovery: Promoting and facilitating county-wide recycling programs, including e-cycling and single-stream initiatives.
• Landfill Gas-to-Energy: Developing and implementing innovative solutions for converting landfill methane gas into renewable energy.
• Composting & Organic Waste Management: Promoting composting programs and supporting the development of anaerobic digestion facilities for organic waste.
• Solar Energy: Exploring and implementing solar energy technologies for waste management facilities and local governments.

Our Approach
